SeaTemp Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 29, 2026

SeaTemp is a Garmin Connect IQ app for showing observed sea temperature from Italian ISPRA coastal monitoring stations.

Data SeaTemp Receives

SeaTemp does not require an account. When you open the app to view the default station, the app requests current sea-temperature data from the SeaTemp API.

If you use nearby-station search, the app sends the watch's current or last known latitude and longitude to the SeaTemp API only to calculate nearby observed stations. If you use station search, the app sends the selected region or all-stations request to the SeaTemp API only to return matching observed stations.

How Data Is Used

Location coordinates and station-search selections are used only to return station results. SeaTemp does not intentionally store precise user location, build user profiles, sell personal data, or use personal data for advertising.

Logs And Service Providers

The SeaTemp API application logs method, path, status code, and request latency. Query strings are omitted from application logs so nearby-search coordinates and station-search selections are not written there.

The service is hosted on third-party infrastructure, which may process standard request metadata such as IP address and timestamp to operate, secure, and deliver the service.

Data Source

Sea-temperature observations come from ISPRA / mareografico.it, Rete Mareografica Nazionale. SeaTemp requests ISPRA station data from the server side; your watch location is not sent to ISPRA by SeaTemp.

Retention

SeaTemp does not intentionally retain precise location coordinates. Operational logs may be retained for service operation, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.
